NHL Draft hopeful Dylan Strome wins OHL scoring title with 6-point game

Dylan Strome has been going through the past two years of his junior career being known as "Ryan's brother." As the younger brother of former top-five draft pick , now of the New York Islanders, it comes with the territory.Dylan Strome has also been known as the top prospect on the Erie Otters as teammate Connor McDavid gets most of the attention as the projected No. 1 pick. Having the best prospect since on your team tends to cast a Deven Marrero Jersey long shadow. But now Dylan Strome can claim something that neither his older brother nor McDavid could. After putting up a stunning six points in Erie's regular-season finale Sunday afternoon, Strome claimed the Ontario Hockey League's scoring title. In 68 games this season, Strome had 129 points -- 45 goals and 84 a sists. He eclipsed his rookie total by 90 points. Despite the long shadows cast Arizona Diamondbacks Jersey over him, Strome's performance demands a spotlight shining on it. The scoring title pretty much guarantees that. Coming into Sunday's game against the Niagara Ice Dogs, Strome trailed Mitchell Marner of the London Knights by three points. So Strome put up four goals and two a sists and made sure he cleared the bar with Jake Lamb Jersey room to spare. Now, of course, we know that Connor McDavid probably would have won the scoring title going away if not for his broken hand that cost him five weeks of the season, along with time mi sed while he was at the World Junior Championship.McDavid, who did not play Sunday, finished his junior campaign with 120 points in 47 games, 21 fewer than his teammate and the new scoring champion. Additionally, Marner appeared in five fewer games this year, so he beats Strome on points per game as well. That said, the season Strome Daniel Descalso Jersey has had is not to be discounted. He had 10 games in which he posted four or more points this season and as Stephen Burtch of Sportsnet notes, Strome was still producing when McDavid was gone:So this year Strome without McDavid played 21 gp, had 18 goals and 35 pts. That's 0.86 goals per game and 1.67 pts per game. Stephen Burtch (@SteveBurtch) Even though his production rates were Taijuan Walker Jersey a tick lower, they were still sensational relative to other players his age. This is a quality player who could go within the first five picks of the NHL Entry Draft and might even sneak into the top three. The top of the draft is loaded this year with McDavid, Boston University standout Jack Eichel, Strome, Marner and Boston College defenseman Noah Hanifin. All five of those players are going to make an organization better pretty quickly. What a great year to be bad in the NHL.
