Second Half Blitz Gives Leicester The Win

LEICESTER CITY 2-1 SWANSEA CITYLeicester City got off to the perfect start in their Championship campaign as they defeated Swansea City 2-1 at the Walkers Stadium on a sunny Saturday afternoon.The first half was a bit of a bore, neither of the two teams created chances in the first half and both keepers were Caleb Joseph Jersey hardly troubled. Leicester City started brightly, especially the Centre-Midfield pairing of Richie Wellens and Matt Oakley.Swansea though did have a couple of shots at goal early on, Shaun McDonald and Mark Gower both saw their efforts go harmle sly over the bar. Leicester City were playing a lot of hoof ball, as Michael Morrison and Jack Hobbs tried to get the ball up the field as much as they could.In the 17th minute, the Foxes conceded a corner, which was converted in by Swansea defender Ashley Williams, to put the Swans 1-0 up. Leicester tried to get back into the game, but a goal just wasnt coming, the Leicester midfielders were creating many chances for the two strikers but nothing paid off for them. Towards the end of the first half, Leicester City left-back Bruno Berner struck the bar and Matty Fryatt had a shot blocked as Leicester were pushing hard for that all important equaliser, however Swansea were able to close out the first half and they went into the break at 1-0 up, thanks to the goal from Ashley Williams.The second half saw Leicester make two vital substitutions, new signings Dany NGue san and Martyn Waghorn took to the field as Leicester tried to recuperate themselves in Jeff Mathis Jersey the second half. The Foxes started excellently, as Dany NGue san soon saw his shot, in the 48th minute, go wide. Leicester looked a whole different team as NGue san and Waghorn linked up well and two minutes later Leicester had a real chance to get back into the game, Bruno Berner was brought down in the penalty box; however Steve Howard saw his penalty saved by Swansea keeper Dorius De Vries.Leicester Arizona Diamondbacks Jersey were fired up after mi sing the penalty, and soon Martyn Waghorn, Richie Wellens and Steve Howard all had chances to score. Then in the 68th minute, Leicester got the equaliser, new signing Martyn Waghorn saw his shot deflect off Swansea defender Ashley Williams into the net to make it 1-1.Only a couple of minutes later and Leicester were ahead; Matt Oakley delivered the corner and there was Dany NGue san to convert home to put Leicester City 2-1 up, to the delight of the Leicester fans. Super subs Martyn Waghorn and Dany NGue san had scored what proved to be two vital goals, third substitute Nicky Adams then entered the fray for the Foxes replacing Lloyd Dyer.Adams came on and played a blinder of a match, able to create plenty of chances for Leicester City and they could of easily been 3-1 ahead when Adams set up Dany NGue san but his shot was saved by De Vries.Leicester fans had something to laugh about, when Michael Morrison played a ball over the top for Nicky Adams to chase, Adams kept the ball in with help from the corner flag. The ball rolled along the sideline and Adams picked it up again and proceeded to nutmeg the Swansea full back, who was Deven Marrero Jersey sent tumbling to the floor in embarra sment.After a hard long 85 minutes for Swansea, they were able to test Leicester goalkeeper Chris Weale for the first time since their goal, with only their second shot on target, new Swansea signing Stephen Dobbie had the shot, but nothing came out of it. Late on Leicester should have wrapped up the game as Dany NGue san hit the bar, but Swansea had the last chance and what a chance it was, Jordi Lopez had an effort on goal, however the shot went wide. Leicester then saw out the game and wrapped up a deservingly Rob Refsnyder Jersey first day victory over Swansea at the Walkers Stadium.Man of the MatchNew signing Martyn Waghorn played brilliantly when he came on as a second half substitute, the youngster on loan from Sunderland caused Swansea all sorts of problems today. Waghorn of course scored the equalising goal; he also created numerous chances and closed the opposition down well. 9/10
